New 4K restoration!
A landmark of independent film, Deitch’s luminous debut (Sundance Jury Prize 1986) blazed new trails for generations of LGBT cinema. In 1959, conservative English professor Vivian (Helen Shaver, Best Actress winner at Locarno) comes to Reno for a divorce. To her surprise, she falls hard for the free-spirited Cay (Patricia Charbonneau, Nominated for Best Female Lead, Independent Spirit Awards) and discovers a side of herself she never knew existed, setting off an exuberant, deeply sensuous love story.
