Leviathan
Friday, March 1 - Thursday, April 25, 2013
From the makers of the acclaimed Sweetgrass and Foreign Parts comes this visceral look at the high-risk world of commercial fishing. Taking to the waters off the coast of New Bedford, MA—the setting of Melville’s Moby-Dick—Castaing-Taylor and Paravel strapped their waterproof cameras to workers, decks, hulls and cranes, capturing the perspectives of fisherman, fish, and seagulls with a stunning you-are-there immediacy. Part ethnographic investigation and part impressionist experiment, LEVIATHAN represents a whole new kind of documentary.
