Mysteries of Lisbon
Friday, August 5 - Thursday, August 11, 2011
Shown with an intermission. The masterful, prolific Ruiz (Time Regained) returns with this enormously entertaining costume dramedy, an adaptation of the 19th-century Portuguese classic. In a Lisbon boarding school, a teenage orphan questions the secret of his past, launching a Dickensian epic of betrayals, hidden identities and doomed love. Told through sprawling flashbacks, multiple narrators, dream sequences and stories-within-stories, MYSTERIES OF LISBON offers a dizzying tribute to the power of narrative.
Due to the film’s length, tickets for this special engagement are $12 IFC Center members, $17 general admission, $13 seniors/children.
