Tales from the Golden Age
Friday, August 26 - Thursday, September 1, 2011
From the director of 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days and a group of rising Romanian filmmakers, this gallows-humor comedy revisits the days of the notorious Ceausescu regime—officially called “The Golden Age.” In the face of an implacable, Orwellian dictatorship, comic, bizarre, surprising urban legends abounded, myths that drew on the surreal everyday events of life under totalitarianism. TALES explores those stories, celebrating the darkly ironic sense of humor that kept ordinary Romanians going.
