Writer-director-star James Franco explores the brief, tumultuous life of the storied early 20th-century poet Hart Crane. Shot in lush black-and-white and filled with Crane’s arresting poetry, this provocative, experimental biopic follows the rebellious, self-destructive artist from his early years as the son of a wealthy Cleveland businessman through sojourns in New York, Cuba and Paris, capturing his dreams, his unapologetic love of men, his manic highs and depressive, death-haunted lows. With Michael Shannon.
