Waverly Midnights: Parental Guidance

Parental roles also take center stage—in good ways and bad—in “Parental Guidance,”  the spring 2019 edition of the theater’s ongoing“Waverly Midnights”series, running Fridays and Saturdays at midnight. The program opens with Jack Nicholson’s terrifying father in Stanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING (1980), and for Father’s Day weekend, screens Jack Nance in David Lynch’s ERASERHEAD (1977). For Mother’s Day weekendthe series presents Sigourney Weaver battling the mother of all ETs in James Cameron’s ALIENS (1986), with other notable moms in the lineup including Mia Farrow in Roman Polanski’s ROSEMARY’S BABY(1968), Kathleen Turner in John Waters’ SERIAL MOM (1994) and Piper Laurie in Brian De Palma’s CARRIE (1976).
