The Way We Get By
In Bangor, Maine, a group of senior citizens greets soldiers bound for or returning from Iraq and Afghanistan at the town’s airport. Day and night, rain and shine, they’ve offered gratitude and encouragement, a friendly face and some kind words to more than 800,000 servicemen and women. Putting aside their own problems, they reach out to others who are too often forgotten. And with that simple act, the trio at the heart of this moving portrait makes a profound case for faith in community, connection and a life of purpose.
