“Posey’s Mary is a spiritual descendant of Holly Golightly, and there’s an echo, as well, of Edie Sedgwick, the late Andy Warhol superstar who moved the American-princess-on-a-bender mythology into the drug-rock era.” -Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly
Indie legend Parker Posey made her Sundance debut with this 90s landmark, still one of her most iconic roles. Mary is a nightclub fixture in pre-gentrified downtown Manhattan, a freewheeling, fashion-forward social butterfly who rules the underground party scene. But when she can’t make rent, her aunt gets her a job at the local library, and Mary discovers talents she never knew she had. With Liev Schreiber, Guillermo Diaz, John Ventimiglia.
