The Exorcist III
Friday, November 10 - Saturday, November 11, 2023
A great threequel takes the story to unexpected places, and THE EXORCIST III is one of the best of its kind. Written and directed by William Peter Blatty, part three finds Detective Kinderman (George C. Scott, taking over for Lee J. Cobb) and Father Dyer (Ed Flanders, as the piano-playing priest from the first film) sharing a bromance for the ages in Georgetown, fifteen years after the exorcism of Regan MacNeil. When a string of grisly murders leads Kinderman to a hospitalized mental patient who looks an awful lot like his old friend Father Damien Karras, the detective will need to confront his grief, lack of faith, and that terrible night at the MacNeil residence.
With a fun-as-hell cast that includes Brad Dourif and Jason Miller, a screenplay infused with Blatty’s trademark spirituality and wit, and a moment many fans call the scariest scene in horror history, THE EXORCIST III offers fans of the original something entirely new.
“Blatty knew the camera, knew montage, had an eye and a genius for doing a few things the like of which we hadn’t seen before (and, as it turned out, wouldn’t see again).” –Slant
