Adapted from James Franco’s short stories, these tales of the intertwining lives of three 5th-grade friends unfold in the fall of 1985 in the suburban paradise of Palo Alto, California. One boy heads to Yosemite for a weekend with his dad (Franco) and discovers something unforeseen. Another, left to his own devices, befriends a lonely drifter who shares his love of comic books.
