Brüno

Friday, August 11 - Saturday, August 12, 2023

Sacha Baron Cohen’s follow up to BORAT may not be as ubiquitous in the cultural zeitgeist, but it sure is as hilarious as ever. Playing a fame-hungry, eccentric, gay, German journalist, Cohen fearlessly pushes and prods at Hollywood’s obsession with fame, while also tackling homophobia in America. It’s a film you’d be surprised Cohen wasn’t put in deep trouble for, and it remains as shocking and subversive as ever.

Preceded by: AMERICAN REFLEXXX (2015, Alli Coates & Signe Pierce, 14 min.)
While innocently walking the streets of Myrtle Beach, a masked entity becomes an object of attention to surrounding passersby. Shocking and otherworldly, AMERICAN REFLEXXX is perhaps one of the defining films of the 2010s.
