Dachimawa Lee
Sunday, June 21 - Friday, June 26, 2009
With lead actress, Kong Hyo-Jin in attendance. Korea’s hardest-hitting action director, Ryu Seung-Wan (CITY OF VIOLENCE), turns in a loopy send-up of Korean spy thrillers from the 70’s and 80’s. You don’t need to know Korean film history to get the jokes in this mile-a-minute action yarn as secret agent Dachimawa Lee jets around the world (Korea stands in for the world) and fights dastardly Japanese (played by Koreans), evil Chinese bandits (Koreans) and American scientists (Koreans again). Irredeemably stupid and ridiculously hard-hitting it’s the dumbest, funnest movie of the summer.
