When you’ve had enough, you’ve had enough. That breaking point became clear for the students of Gallaudet University, the world’s only higher education institute exclusively for deaf and HOH students, in 1988, when the school’s Board of Trustees chose a hearing president over a qualified deaf candidate. Led by a quartet of student activists as remarkable for their differences as they were for their common goal, the eight days of protests forever changed the school, the students and our society.
Oscar-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim and actor/advocate/filmmaker Nyle DiMarco collaborate for a passionate, propulsive film that gives a fresh reminder of the long game of the fight against injustices, then and now.
The screening will feature open captioning on screen. The screening will be followed by an on-stage conversation with filmmaker Davis Guggenheim.
Single screening tickets are $18 ($15 for seniors and $12 for IFC Center members) each. A Series Season Pass, good for all four Spring 2025 screenings in the DOC NYC Selects series, is available for $55 ($35 for IFC Center members).
