Dinner in America
Tuesday, October 29 - Thursday, November 7, 2024
October 29 at 7:00 p.m. & 9:30 p.m.: Post-screening Q&A with director Adam Rehmeier and stars Emily Skeggs and Kyle Gallner moderated by Brandon Streussnig
An on-the-lam punk rocker (Gallner) and a socially awkward young woman (Skeggs) obsessed with his band unexpectedly go on an epic journey together through America’s decaying Midwestern suburbs–finding their voices, purpose, and ultimately love in the process.
Originally debuting at Sundance in 2020 and going on to play and win awards at festivals such as Fantasia, Tallinn Black Nights, Stockholm, Neuchatel, and many others around the world, DINNER IN AMERICA premiered in the US mid-Covid and initially struggled to find a wider audience. But recent social media enthusiasm for the film has kicked into overdrive–with TikTok in particular causing the film and its earworm original song “Watermelon” to trend across numerous platforms including Letterboxd, Twitter, and the aforementioned TikTok contributing nearly 300M impressions.
DINNER IN AMERICA is coming back to theaters so audiences can enjoy it the way it was always intended: laughing with a group, shouting at the screen, and ugly crying openly alongside dozens of strangers.
