Frida

The screening will be followed by an on-stage conversation with filmmaker Carla Gutiérrez, creative producer Katia Maguire, and supervising editor David Teague.
NYC PREMIERE. Emmy-nominated editor and first-time feature director Carla Gutiérrez takes the rare step of using the iconic Mexican artist’s own words, culled from diaries, letters, interviews and other sources. Mixing visceral animation of Kahlo’s influential works and expressive voice-over artists, Frida is a definitive film. “If you only see one filmic piece about Kahlo, this may be the one that presents the most complete overview of both the biographical highlights and her multifaceted persona behind closed doors,” – Variety.
Special thanks to Amazon Studios. Co-presented by Cinema Tropical
