François Cluzet gives a tour-de-force performance as a con man who convinces an economically depressed town that he has come to resurrect a long-dormant highway construction project. Paul is a local hero, until his past (in the form of shady ex-associate Gérard Depardieu) and his conscience catch up to him. A stranger-than-fiction true story from writer-director Xavier Giannoli (The Singer, Rendez-Vous 2007), costarring Emmanuelle Devos as the town’s mayor.
