Le Refuge
Saturday, March 13, 2010
Part of “Rendez-Vous with French Cinema 2010.”
With his customary unobtrusive hand, director François Ozon renders this intimate, incisive character drama about a moody ex-junkie recovering from addiction and the recent death of her boyfriend. Awakening from a coma, Mousse (Isabelle Carré) finds herself in withdrawal and learns that she’s pregnant by her dead lover, Louis. She withdraws to a beachside retreat, where she is visited by Louis’s brother (Louis-Ronan Choisy), who tries to reach out.
