NYC PREMIERE
The screening will be followed by an on-stage conversation with director Alex Braverman.
The enduring fascination with comedian Andy Kaufman, who passed away 40 years ago, goes well behind his very original style of comedy. In a world where freedom and autonomy are often illusory principles, Kaufman’s determination to dance to the beat of his own drum – even to the point where he alienated his most devoted fans – continues to be a source of wonder.
Featuring new interviews with Steve Martin, Danny DeVito, Marilu Henner and Andy’s closest confidants, Lynne Margulies and Bob Zmuda, and with executive producers that include Morgan Neville, Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie, first-time feature director Alex Braverman focuses on Kaufman’s unique, discomfortingly risky choices, to inspiring effect.
