Thursday, January 9 at 6:50 p.m.: Introduction by film critic Glenn Kenny
This adaptation of Nathanael West’s novel about Hollywood decadence in the late ’30s is a disturbing, deeply insightful work that is powerful in its presentation and staggering in its vision before erupting in a shocking climax. Starring Donald Sutherland as the lonely, desperate Homer Simpson, Burgess Meredith as an aging vaudevillian who has seen better days, and Karen Black as a narcissistic aspiring starlet.
“Presents 1930s Los Angeles as a nightmarish circle in Dante’s Inferno.” -Slant Magazine
