“I was raised in a house where we could watch R-rated movies (kind of), unless they had “Evil” or “Satan” in the title. Something like that (I was playing D&D at my neighbors, and forced to listen to Slayer while it was happening). The Evil Dead was the movie my brother and I wanted to see more than anything. The day I turned 16, I got my driver’s license, drove my ass to Kurvan’s Video, and rented The Evil Dead. Some movies can’t live up to that level of hype. This one did. It’s made by a group of friends from Michigan, and is the first movie I saw that made me realize I could make movies.” – Joel Potrykus
