In a remote Alpine village in the north of Italy, a schoolteacher and his wife confront teen angst, infant mortality, and WWII-era deprivation while raising their large, ever-multiplying brood of children. When a handsome AWOL soldier takes refuge in Vermiglio and captures the affections of their oldest daughter, a wartime deception threatens to tear the family apart. Inspired by Maura Delpero’s family history and building to a deeply moving finale, VERMIGLIO is a gorgeous examination of the quiet moments, disappointments, and everlasting bonds of family life.

A Janus release.

“Wonderfully acted with unaffected naturalism… plays an extravagant, almost shameless pizzicato on the audience’s heartstrings.” — Guardian
